My brother's birthday invitation

Theme: humerous! Showing the front and back of the invite.

Off The Wall

For this project, I focused on the phrase, 'Fly on the wall'. I illustrated the 6 stages of a fly's life, throughout a constantina book. I wanted to demonstrate how a fly comes to be on a wall. I photographed the wall in many different areas and varied the zoom on them. I screen printed the font and back cover.

Magical Museum Poster

Magical Museum Exhibit

These are peepholes. For this project I was thinking about the purpose and function of a peephole. I believe that they fulfill curiosities and enable the viewer to gather more or new information. Thus, I played with idea and almost turned it on its head. I made five black boxes that contained absolutely nothing inside. I wanted to almost contrast people's expectations and make them think about the peephole in the way that I did. I made many to highlight the point further, building up there expectations every time only to feel more of an anti- climax and more questions in their minds.

Mark Wallinger

These are some exhibition poster designs I created after visiting Mark Wallinger's exhibition, The Russian Linesman, at The Hayward Gallery. Wallinger curated 'this unique exhibition exploring notions of the liminal; thresholds between physical, political or metaphysical realms', in which I wanted to reflect in my designs.

'Sentence' Poster Ideas

These are some exhibtion posters I designed in response to our end of year 'Sentence' exhibition, which was held at The Old Police Station in New Cross.

Design a Dictionary

For this project, we had to choose a subject and pick 40 words that best described this subject and either define them ourselves or use the actual definitions. As you can see my subject was decay and thus I created this poster, in which I believe at first glance, it is possible to see this notion of decay with the way that the words almost disintegrate. I stuck to the layout of a dictionary and used columns to put it into context.

Sound into Vision

For this project I took sound recording of a train line. I started off by doing lots of mark making. I then traced over these marks to make type. The sound reminded me of a stamp, the way that it was mechanical and quite repeatative. I combined these two images and made them into a constantina book which also reminds me of a train line and I put it into a sequence in response to my sound.

The Snow

In the Beginning

This is an alphabet I created inspired by caveman imagery.

Barbican Bazaar

This was an external project which I did with four friends. Basically, we had a stand at the Barbican Bazaar just before christmas and so we had to make stuff to sell at it. As you can see from the above photos I designed and screen- printed t-shirts. I also made some christmas cards, which were successful too.

Beyond Boundaries Exhibition

Beyond Boundaries Final

This is a big leap from my development work, but I was not convinced that that stuff was "beyond the boundaries" enough. Thus, this idea of using this photo I took of the O2 Arena came about. As it's obviously famously used for concerts and gigs, I went with the idea of making a completely obscure poster based around this fact. This lead me on to thinking about what artists have performed there, will perform there or who never made it; Michael Jackson. I believe that this is completely beyond the boundaries in every way and I'm sorry if it offends.

Beyond Boundaries Developed

The wish is to make something, be it a building, person, or in this case a shack on a beach, work again. To come alive by use of the imagery of the switch. I did a lot of other images, but I believe that this was my most successful one, as on first glance, one doesn't notice the light switch, and it actually blends in well with the shack. I like the size of the switch too, as I tried images with it smaller but I don't they communicated as well. I also love the contrast between the old, retired, deteriorated and then the brand spanking new, modernity.

Ebon Heath

"I want our words to jump, scream, whisper and dance", pronounced Ebon Heath. This sums up Heath's work for me- I love the vitality and life he pumps into these words, creating these amazing typographic mobiles.

Canning Town

I took these photos as part of an assigned project: Beyond the Boundaries. I found Canning Town a strange place, quite gloomy and miserable, but also even though it had a very urban feel to it and it was only 15 minutes away from Waterloo, I felt like I was a million miles away from London. As one can see in the photos, there were many contrasting landscapes, with rubbish in the foreground of sight and then sky- risers in the background. I used some of these photos as part of my development work and I also did some drawings from them.
